Application Procedure: Grades 16
When to Apply
Applications for admissions are accepted after Labor Day for the following academic year and may be obtained from the Lower School Admissions Office or downloaded here. Please submit your application by December 1.
How to Apply
Submit the following materials:
- An application parent statement
- Transcripts from previous schools. Transcript request forms can be downloaded here.
- An application fee of $55
- A photograph is optional
- Tuition Assistance may be requested for students applying to grades 1-6 by checking “Yes” to the financial aid question on the Admissions Application. A Tuitions Assistance application will be mailed to you after December 1. Please contact April Pereyra at RSS TA RSSTuitionAssistance@steiner.edu or at 212-535-2130 x 235. - Students entering grades 6 and up are required to take the ISEE (Independent School Entrance Exam, also know as the "ERB"). For Kindergarten through Grade 5 the ERB test is suggested, but not required. If you child is taking this test, we ask that you have the result sent to us.
- Standardized testing is welcomed though not required for admissions to grades 1-5, but if your child does take the ERB Test, please have the results sent to us. Children applying to our sixth grade must take the Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE) administered through the Educational Records Bureau (ERB), and parents should arrange to have these scores, along with the records from their child’s present school, sent to Rudolf Steiner School.
School Visits/Interviews
Once the admissions packet is complete, the Lower School will contact you to schedule a tour and a parent interview.
Students applying to the first grade will be interviewed in small groups in December and January. Students applying to grades 2-6 will be invited to meet the class mates and various teachers.
Open Houses
Our Fall Open Houses wil be held on Tuesday, September 29, 2010 and Monday, November 1, 2010 from 7 to 9 pm. Please call the Lower School Admissions Office at 212-327-1457 to RSVP.
Notification and Reply Dates 2011-2012
As a member of ISAAGNY, we notify families of admissions decisions in accordance with the scheduled guidelines, which can be viewed here.
Once you have accepted an offer, please notify immediately by phone or email all the schools to which you have applied. This courtesy is helpful to families on a waiting list.
