COLLEGE GUIDANCE
Go to College Guidance pages
Rudolf Steiner School is committed to academic excellence and offering our students a rigorous classical education in preparation for the most demanding colleges. All of our graduates are accepted to four-year colleges and universities. Our Director of College Guidance works diligently as the college advisor to provide individual attention and guidance throughout the complex and demanding college selection process. She is excited to get to know the students and appreciates the opportunity to watch them grow during this transformative time.
The college advisor works closely with students and parents to identify the colleges that will meet a student's personal, academic, and professional needs and helps guide students through the application process. By joining together with students to research colleges, discuss the likelihood of admission, and understand how to appropriately present themselves to the colleges and universities to which they are applying, students learn the necessary tools to be successful in this process. Parents are encouraged to call on the college advisor with questions and set up meetings as needed. The importance of constant, open communication between the student, the parents, the college advisor, and the colleges is greatly emphasized throughout the entire college search process.
Waldorf pedagogy nurtures healthy emotional development by conveying knowledge experientially as well as academically. Students are encouraged to take advantage of the wealth of opportunities available at Steiner, both in and out of the classroom. Artistic, athletic and extracurricular activities allow students to develop areas of special talent, pursue leadership opportunities, and discover new interests. In the words of Rudolf Steiner, the goal of Waldorf education is “to develop free human beings who are able, of themselves, to impart purpose and direction to their lives.” The college selection and admission process plays a critical role in this portion of a student’s educational journey.
