Athletics
Many students are involved in our three season sports program in
volleyball, basketball, or track. Participation in sports fosters
school spirit, deepens the students social ties, and challenges
them to achieve higher levels of individual skill. We offer several
interscholastic sports activities for students in grades seven and
eight. After-school sports teams provide an additional opportunity
to teach our children about the importance of cooperation, commitment
to others, graceful winning, and dignified losing. These teams also
provide a forum for students who wish to train their bodies more
regularly and rigorously than the physical education curriculum
allows. Our school does not hold try-outs or cut students from the
teams. All students are encouraged to participate in the after-school
sports program, regardless of skill level or previous experience.

Community Service
As they move into older grades, students are encouraged
to directly serve the wider community. They venture to help in community
centers, retirement homes and hospitals. Nevertheless, engagement
in the school is always stressed: The eighth grade might stage a
dramatic presentation of a fairy tale for a school-wide celebration.
Students in grades 5 – 12 also help to arrange and run the Fall
Fair in a variety of activities.
